Diary of a Wedding Videographer {4}

April 20, 2017

I hold my hands up. My presence on social media has been lacking in the extreme lately (feel free to berate me, Lamb Social Media!). It’s been a busy few weeks at HQ though, with the first three weddings of the year under my belt, a wedding fair, the arrival of my new logo and lots of editing…

I’m now in the final stages of editing Lisa & Iain’s wedding film and love this part of the creative process. All of the basic editing has been done and I can now put my artistic stamp on the footage. All wedding videographers have their own look and feel and my personal style is to use rich, vibrant colours and a 16:9 ratio so that the film looks cinematic. Here’s a before and after to show how colour grading and framing can enhance unedited footage to make it look really magical… Don’t the colours just pop?

I am also midway through editing Victoria & Lawrence’s wedding film, and have been spending some time this week, working on the footage we shot following their ceremony. The couple had a purple and orange colour scheme for their big day and so we had some fun with paint ball flares (or smoke bombs) in the same colours. It was the first time myself, the photographer and Victoria and Lawrence had used them, but we got some beautiful shots and the children had a great time playing with them too! Here’s a sneak preview…

I also have to say a huge congratulations to the team at King’s Lynn Town Hall, who held their first Wedding Show at the start of April. It was a huge success! The atmosphere was amazing and it was busy from beginning to end while couples met all the fantastic local wedding suppliers. I’m looking forward to next year’s show already.

I am also, now, the proud owner of my very own bespoke logo thanks to the talented Kayleigh at KW Design. I met with a Kayleigh a few weeks ago to discuss branding my business and she has gone above and beyond to deliver my dream logo. I find the design process fascinating, so if you’d like to see how my logo was born check out her article on its creation…
